There has been a lot of talk online about choosing One Word for the New Year. In fact, we just talked about it here at Circles Of Faith the other day.  The whole idea is that instead creating a resolutions list, you choose one word to be  your motto for the year. Choosing just one word can help fine-tune your thinking, creating focus throughout the next twelve months.

In Habakkuk 2:2 it says "And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may [be able to] read [it easily and quickly] as he hastens by."

Once you have picked your One Word, it's important to write it down so you don't forget it. Even better than just writing it down, place it somewhere you can see it and be reminded of it often. Instead of just a sticky note taped to your bathroom mirror (although I realize this is highly effective), why not create DIY wall art to add to the decor of your home or office?

Thanks to Pinterest, I have come up with a handful of ideas to create some of my own wall art. These are just a few of the ways I am keeping my One Word in front of me this year.

Supplies needed:

Canvas, Adhesive, Spray Paint, Wooden Letters

Using a glue gun I mounted wooden letters to a blank canvas. After the letters were securely in place I spray painted the canvas. Now it hangs in my kitchen.

Supplies needed:

Printer, White Paper, Picture Frame

This one is by far the easiest. It can be created using any word processing program and a few of your favorite fonts. And, of course, a printer…I simply typed up a handful of words, some of which were contenders for this year’s word, and included my One Word. I made it stand out buy changing the color, font, and font size. I saved the file and then hit print. I placed it in a frame and displayed it on my bookshelf.

Supplies needed:

Canvas, Acrylic Paint, Brushes, Vinyl Letters

I painted a canvas that coordinated with our basement colors. I know that I want to display it on our mantle there. Once the paint dried, I applied the vinyl letters. I covered the letters and the canvas with color  and let it dry. When the paint dried, I peeled off the letters and Voila!
